Interview

Stephany Lopez a medium height, brownish hair and cute smile girl. Describes herself as impaciant, nice and hardheaded. Stephany graduated high school and right after started working at FedEx. After sometime at the job she realized  that was not a job for her. It was a job more likely for guys. So she went back to school and got her Medical Assistant diploma. She worked as a Medical Assistant for one year and a half. And now she's back at Oxnard College to become a nurse. Her biggest motivation is getting a better future for herself and later on for her children. Stephany is the first one in her family to attend College. Therefore, she’s a role model to her younger sisters because she’s the oldest. Her culture also influence her to dream big. Because in the Hispanic culture most females don’t attend college. They just drop out, give up or they just simply get marry. The days for Stephany are really busy she works from nine in the morning until six in the afternoon. So she attends school in the nights. Monday thru Thursday she gets out of work and rushes to college because her class starts at 7p.m. There’s an exception on Wednesday she gets out of work at 5:30 because her English class starts at 6p.m. Due to her busy week she hardly sees or spends time with her family during the week. That leads her to see her family only on the weekends. Her opinion about college is that is not as hard as people pictured it. Stephany says “if you do homework, put effort, and not give up college is easy."

Family

My family is made up of five people. That will be my mom, dad and two sisters and me. I’m the oldest; I have a thirteen year old sister she is in junior high. Hopefully she graduates the eighth grade. I also have a five year old little sister she’s still in kindergarten. Then theirs my dad a tall, skinny and hardworking man. My mom, she can be a mom and dad at the same time. She works to bring money home and still manages to keeps the house clean and knows where everything is at. Finally is theirs me I’m 18 and study at Oxnard College.

As a family we spend time together. Monday thru Friday we have dinner all together. At dinner time we like to talk about how was our day and sometimes our problems. On Saturday I hardly see them because I got out. But then Sunday is family day we go out together. We like to the stores and then to go eat. I like spending time with them. At the end of the day we get home and relax from our day long together. My parents are really important to me they have always been there for me. Since I remember my parents have work to give me the best. With my thirteen year old sister I get along with her and share accessories and clothes. And with my five year old sister I like spending time with her. At times she can be a little bratty but I love her.

My family and I are united. If I have a problem I can just go and talk to my mom. If I want money I just go and ask my dad. When I feel like fighting I look for my thirteen year sister. And argue with her. And when I get bored and just want to be happy for a while I spend time with my little sister. A kid’s smile is the best. She just smiles and that brightens up my dad. I love my family.

Reality Television
Reality television, I believe is the new thing now on TV. Shows like Jersey Shore and Teen Mom and others are the popular shows on MTV. I use to watch reality TV when I had nothing better to do around the house. Truth is that I use to watch them because they were entertaining each new sequel was better than the other in my opinion. For example, I use to watch Jersey Shore every Thursday at 10:00p.m and on Fridays in History class we would start a class discussion on last night episode. Everyone would talk and comment on what they like about the episode and for some reason everyone had and wanted to share their own opinion. Some stuff that I don't like about reality television is that the actors act dumb like if they don’t know what they’re doing. That's just irritating to me and they ill just change the channel watching reality television was just stressing.
In my opinion reality television is harming society special the youth. Because on TV the actors try to portrait a life with no problems no responsibilities. A life where you don’t have to work or you can be late to work almost every day. A life where you can party and get wasted everyday. A life where having a child at a young age is the best thing ever. And they don’t show any good things there’s always drama, problems and fighting and everything gets solve in the next episode like if life was that essay. They also show the rich people having everything they want and there life problem free. Reality television doesn’t show anything good. They don’t put a good example for real life, everything is fake and they want us to believe it. On TV they don’t sleep or take showers or even go to the restroom. It’s not something we have to watch it teaches us no good. And then the youth tries to fallow that example.
Know that I come to college and have more responsibilities I don’t really have time to watch TV. And those times that I turn on the TV I don’t go on the reality TV channels ill rather watch the news for a while. I try to avoid those shows because I have a little sister and I don’t want her watching those kinds of shows. That don’t show her a good example of life.
