Blog

Blogging has been a different experience for me.  I liked it, because it was drama free. It’s the first time I write something and let other people read it and make good comment on it. I liked that people got to read what I posted, and then they got the chance to comment on what I wrote. I enjoyed reading the feedback people left on my blog. It was nice to see how everyone had a different opinion on one topic. And it was interesting to see that everyone's writing is different. Also, everyone organizes there writing a different way. I liked reading other peoples blog and see what they wrote. I liked reading everyone’s blog. It was interesting. I liked reading the blog post about "something in our lives that made us changed our opinion or way of thinking.” I liked that blog post because we all have been threw different experiences on our lives and we go the chance to write about them. My favorite blog post to write was the one about "the three most important people in our lives". Because that made me think of the people I know and the people that are really important. I don't think I am keeping my blog after the class is over, because I already have enough with Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter that I don’t need another social network. I would like to say that this semester has been full of hard work, but at the end it will be worth it.

Santa Barbara Zoo

My first time at the Zoo was so much fun. It was last summer that my boyfriend at that time decided to take me. I remember it was a Friday. The day was very hot, and the sun was so bright. The drive there was relaxing and the view of the beach was very calm. We got to the zoo and we bought the tickets. I was so excited to see the animals. We got the map and the first thing I wanted to look at was the elephants, so we went to look for them. They were two big elephants and they were gray. After that we moved on to see the giraffes. I loved watching the giraffes they were so tall and they were many of them walking around. I didn’t like the tiger, because he was just lying around. He didn’t even move. Then we went inside a little room and saw some spiders and more insects. The turtles were so cute; I liked the way they swim around. After a while I got tired of walking around, therefore we went inside the gift shop. There were so many cute things that I wanted to buy the entire store. I liked many things that I couldn’t decide what to get. Finally I decided to get a key chain with the Santa Barbara Zoo logo, penguin necklets, an elephant pencil and a tiger stuffed animal. After that we went to look at the rest of the animals and I got the chance to feed a pig and some other strange animals. Then we went to go see some of the bird. The birds were big and their feathers were nice. Then it was time to go home. I had a great time at the Zoo and I took a lot of pictures of the animals. It was a fun day.

Three important people

Jose is a medium high guy, has short hair and skinny body. He’s always smiling. And he’s nose is push down because he used to be a boxer. The way he dresses is always so classy, with a collar shirt and nice pants. He’s always so nice to everybody. If he has the opportunity to help you he will. Regardless, of your race, gender, social class etc. He’s just a guy with a nice heart. Not long ago he took a trip to Mexico and took food for the children that have nothing to eat. When I first met him it was a party. After taking some group pictures, he started talking to me like if he already knew me. The first thing that caught my attention was that he doesn’t judge people by the way they look, dress or talk. He first gets to know them. Jose is really important to me because he showed me how to see life different. He thought me how to grow up. He showed me how to value all I have, because there are people that don’t have anything. Jose showed me to think about the poor and those people that don’t have a job. To not be selfish and if i can help someone help them. I learn that life is not always fair but that’s life. And in order to get something you have to work for it.

Cabral was my favorite high school teacher. He’s tall, wears glasses and is skinny. He has freckles in his cheeks and a big bright smile like the people on the Colgate total commercials. He’s smile is one of his nice characteristics. The way he dresses is always casual and in winter he always wears his brown jacket. Cabral is fifty-three years old and still looks in good shape. He’s favorite sport to play is tennis and he likes to watch soccer. The way he teaches the class is just amazing. He makes the class fun and you actually learn. Cabral always interacts with his students. Before he starts to teach his class he sprays himself with his body spray for man. I had him   for my sophomore and junior year. And when I was a senior every time he saw me he would ask me, "did you already apply for a university or register for college?" and I would always answer "naaa i don't wanna go to school anymore I am star working after high I graduate". Then one day he asked me again and then said "don't you want your kids to go to college" and I reply "yeah I want them to be smart" and he said "well you have to go to college first so you can set the example". He change the way I though of school. Cabral is just somebody I will always remember. He’s just the best teacher ever.

I have never been a religious person. I don’t go to church every Sunday. But I’m catholic and in order to do my first communion I had to go to church every Sunday. Therefore, every Sunday I would always go to church with my mom. And every Sunday I would see an old lady always praying. She was short and had gray hair. Every time her gray hair would start showing she will always dye her hair. She always carried a small purse with a rosary inside and sat on the front row in church. That old lady turned out to me my mom’s friend. That lady has so many faith in God. She would always be praying and thanking God for the good and bad situations. The way she never gave up on God was just so incredible. It was because of her that I started believing more in God. She taught me that it doesn’t matter how hard a situation is God will always be there. God knows why things happen the way they do.

VANS
Vans are a famous foot were. They are very comfortable and they match with almost all you were. Vans come in every color like pink, blue, red, black, white, etc. And every design you ever think of like flowers, stars, sharks, skulls and many more. And the most important thing is that there affordable. There are two Vans stores near Oxnard. There is the one in the Pacific View Mall and the one on Camarillo Outlets. Vans seem to be popular among the people. The kids from elementary, Jr. High, and high school were them.  Also parents and people from college use them. Everyone seems to have at least one pair. I prefer to use vans that are one solid color. Because they go along with almost everything you were. But some people prefer to use them with designs to express themselves or the way their feeling. I think Vans are good to were around the house, school or to go out. I don’t recommend them from running or walking. They don't feel comfortable. The prices vary depends on where you get them. You can get them at a cheap price on the Camarillo Outlets. I really recommend people to get Vans. Vans have been around for many years now. They have been around since 1966.

Fast food (opinion)

I think that Fast Food Nation is a pretty informative book. It gives us a lot of good information on how our food is process. Knowing the way food is process has affected me on how I think about a hamburger. The way TV commercials aim at children. I have a little sister and I see that the TV commercial makes her ask for a happy meal at McDonalds because it comes with a toy. I'm going to try to eat less meat, because fast food nation grossed me out on how the meat is processed. And sometimes it has animal shit in it. I would also like to reduce all the fast food I eat. Try to eat healthier, like less animals meat and eat more fruits. Teach my little sister that too much fast food is bad for her. When I finish reading Chapter 9 I stared thinking it was nasty the way the animals are kill. Also the way the hamburgers are process and some of the meat is contaminated. What really surprised me was that the industries is they don't have to let the public know when the meat is contaminated and removed from the stores. The way the workers are treated is just wrong. Fast Food Nation just changed my mind on the way I see meat and fast food.

Truth is I HAVE 2 sisters.

Spring semester

This is my first semester at Oxnard College. So far I like it. I have more free time than I use to have in high school. I'm enrolled in three classes and I try to do my homework on time. I have had some struggles in my English class. I have to learn how to use the "ed" while talking in past tents. In Math class I have to put more hours in the lab, in order to pass the class. I’m working on that. For my Health class everything is going well. I have an A so far. I believe this has been an essay semester because I'm only taking three classes. I don't have too much homework. I just have to worry about my English homework because we have to do a lot of writing assignments. Also there’s a lot of reading and a research paper coming up. Other than that everything is well. My first semester everything is going well. Hopefully my second semester goes as good as this one. But I know at the end all the hard work I have done will pay of my me getting a good paying job. And I won’t have to be working everyday on something I don’t like.

Even though I don’t have a lot of Homework, by this time I’m getting tired of school. I just want the semester to be over. I’m ready to have some long summer vacations. What motivates me to keep going is that I want a better future for myself. I want a good paying job. I don’t want to work for minimum wage. I want to work on something I like. That is the only reason why I keep coming every day. My motivation is having a better life than my parents did.

My two Best Friends

This week I want to talk about my two best friends. Their names are Fanny and Carmen. They both attend to Oxnard College like me. We have been together since junior year in high school. We like to go out to party, eat or just hang out. Most of the time we are at my house. They like my house. Our favorite place to go eat is toppers pizza. And we like to party where there’s banda. We like Spanish music. We listen to banda, corridos and nortenas. Almost every day we are together we meet up at the Oxnard College library to do homework. That’s like around noon and after that we go out to eat. I enjoy spending time with them. I trust them and we always shave fun when we are together.

Changing attitude

I was a regular student in high school. I had an English College Prep class and Spanish AP. I didn’t really like school. I just went to school because I had to. So after graduating High School I started working. When I stared working I never thought of going back to school. I worked and got my own money.  For me school wasn’t that exiting. For work, I worked up at five in the morning. I had to be at work at six in the morning and got out at two-thirty in the afternoon. I worked for eight hours and got paid $8.00 the hour. After, sometime working there I realized that wasn’t the life I wanted. I got home really tired. That got me thinking and I quit the job. Later I enrolled in college. The experience of working in the factory changed my attitude about my education. It took me one month to change my point of view on how I wanted to live my life in the future. The thought of working the rest of my life for minimum wage changed everything in my mind. I took the initiative an enrolled at Oxnard College to continue with my education. Being at Oxnard College has changed my life know I want to continue studying. And get a job that will pay me more than $8.00 the hour. I want a better education to later educate my children. By me going to college I set a good example for my younger sisters. I have showed them that they can go to. I have made my parents proud of me. They like the idea of me going to college. This decision has totally change life know I want to be somebody in life.

Interview

Stephany Lopez a medium height, brownish hair and cute smile girl. Describes herself as impaciant, nice and hardheaded. Stephany graduated high school and right after started working at FedEx. After sometime at the job she realized  that was not a job for her. It was a job more likely for guys. So she went back to school and got her Medical Assistant diploma. She worked as a Medical Assistant for one year and a half. And now she's back at Oxnard College to become a nurse. Her biggest motivation is getting a better future for herself and later on for her children. Stephany is the first one in her family to attend College. Therefore, she’s a role model to her younger sisters because she’s the oldest. Her culture also influence her to dream big. Because in the Hispanic culture most females don’t attend college. They just drop out, give up or they just simply get marry. The days for Stephany are really busy she works from nine in the morning until six in the afternoon. So she attends school in the nights. Monday thru Thursday she gets out of work and rushes to college because her class starts at 7p.m. There’s an exception on Wednesday she gets out of work at 5:30 because her English class starts at 6p.m. Due to her busy week she hardly sees or spends time with her family during the week. That leads her to see her family only on the weekends. Her opinion about college is that is not as hard as people pictured it. Stephany says “if you do homework, put effort, and not give up college is easy."

Family

My family is made up of five people. That will be my mom, dad and two sisters and me. I’m the oldest; I have a thirteen year old sister she is in junior high. Hopefully she graduates the eighth grade. I also have a five year old little sister she’s still in kindergarten. Then theirs my dad a tall, skinny and hardworking man. My mom, she can be a mom and dad at the same time. She works to bring money home and still manages to keeps the house clean and knows where everything is at. Finally is theirs me I’m 18 and study at Oxnard College.

As a family we spend time together. Monday thru Friday we have dinner all together. At dinner time we like to talk about how was our day and sometimes our problems. On Saturday I hardly see them because I got out. But then Sunday is family day we go out together. We like to the stores and then to go eat. I like spending time with them. At the end of the day we get home and relax from our day long together. My parents are really important to me they have always been there for me. Since I remember my parents have work to give me the best. With my thirteen year old sister I get along with her and share accessories and clothes. And with my five year old sister I like spending time with her. At times she can be a little bratty but I love her.

My family and I are united. If I have a problem I can just go and talk to my mom. If I want money I just go and ask my dad. When I feel like fighting I look for my thirteen year sister. And argue with her. And when I get bored and just want to be happy for a while I spend time with my little sister. A kid’s smile is the best. She just smiles and that brightens up my dad. I love my family.

Reality Television
Reality television, I believe is the new thing now on TV. Shows like Jersey Shore and Teen Mom and others are the popular shows on MTV. I use to watch reality TV when I had nothing better to do around the house. Truth is that I use to watch them because they were entertaining each new sequel was better than the other in my opinion. For example, I use to watch Jersey Shore every Thursday at 10:00p.m and on Fridays in History class we would start a class discussion on last night episode. Everyone would talk and comment on what they like about the episode and for some reason everyone had and wanted to share their own opinion. Some stuff that I don't like about reality television is that the actors act dumb like if they don’t know what they’re doing. That's just irritating to me and they ill just change the channel watching reality television was just stressing.
In my opinion reality television is harming society special the youth. Because on TV the actors try to portrait a life with no problems no responsibilities. A life where you don’t have to work or you can be late to work almost every day. A life where you can party and get wasted everyday. A life where having a child at a young age is the best thing ever. And they don’t show any good things there’s always drama, problems and fighting and everything gets solve in the next episode like if life was that essay. They also show the rich people having everything they want and there life problem free. Reality television doesn’t show anything good. They don’t put a good example for real life, everything is fake and they want us to believe it. On TV they don’t sleep or take showers or even go to the restroom. It’s not something we have to watch it teaches us no good. And then the youth tries to fallow that example.
Know that I come to college and have more responsibilities I don’t really have time to watch TV. And those times that I turn on the TV I don’t go on the reality TV channels ill rather watch the news for a while. I try to avoid those shows because I have a little sister and I don’t want her watching those kinds of shows. That don’t show her a good example of life.

Fast food

Food Fast

My experience with fast food it’s been alright till a certain point. As a child I remember my mom worked every day and still manage to get home and cooked a meal for us. That meant Monday thru Friday we would eat what she cooked and on weekends we will eat fast food. We would eat fast food because she would be tired of working and cooking on the week that on weekend she I’ll give us fast food as a treat. It always worked like this if on Saturday we had pizza for dinner then Sunday will have a hamburger, we will never eat pizza or hamburger two days in a row. My favorite place to eat will be at McDonalds and get a happy meal it had a hamburger and it came with a toy. I remember will go there on Saturday because it was like a reward for going to school all week. As a child I felt good eating at a restaurant and not having to eat what my mom cooked. I would not consider fast food a family life style because we would only eat it on weekends not every day.

Now, today my eating fast food habits have change. When I was a child I would eat what my mom feed me but know is different. From 7 days in the week I eat fast food 4 to 5 days a week. It went form 2 times a week to 4/5 times I double the amount. On the daily bases I’ll go out to eat with some friends, on my school days that will be Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. It depends what we want to eat it varies form Toppers Pizza, McDonalds, Carl's Jr, Panda Express etc. Know my favorite place to eat will be toppers pizza I love how the cheese just melts and the crust. On the weekends I still eat fast food with my parents when we go out to have dinner. I have given fast food more importance in my life because it’s easier so get and its cheap. And like it’s easier to access I eat it at any time in the morning, afternoon or in the night. Fast food has gotten to be part of my daily life but I would like to change that in the future and try to eat less fast food.

Blog #1

Hueneme High School is where I should start; I graduated June 2012 barely last year. High school was a great experience for me I did made a lot of good friends, bad enemy’s and had heartbreaking relationships and cute ones too. I was always and Ok student I got A’s B’s and C’s I never got F’s, I was never good in math and my favorite subject was Spanish class my elective. Prom, grand night and graduation day will be the best things I will remember. My favorite part of the day in high school will be when it was time for lunch and I’ll see all of my friends. I believe high school in one of those experiences you will never forget because is where you learn to take the good or bad path in life, and that will be my past.

Im currently atendding Oxnard College, I enroll this spring semester. I’m taking 3 classes that will be English, Math and Health I come to school 3 days a week. I don’t work for right know I want to focus on school and put the best of me. I like to go out with my friends out to dinner, partying, shopping and many other things. I like where I stand in my present I have the support of my parents on coming to college. I try to enjoy every day of my life I’m still young and i still have a long way to go.

The future is unknown but i want to graduate Oxnard College and I would like to transfer. Transfer? I still don’t know where. I want to be a teacher im still undecided in being a kindergarten teacher or a Spanish teacher. I want to have a good job and have kids give them the best. And be good moms support them good economically and emotionally. I want to accomplish all my gold’s I know it will not be easy but not impossible either.
